In alliance with United Community Services, ASAP provides confidential free or low cost substance abuse counseling services to Ankeny area residents in need of help. Services are provided at Neveln Community Center. Anyone needing help may call ASAP to make an appointment.
Community Drug Education
ASAP sponsors community events aimed at increasing public awareness to prevent substance abuse. Examples of these activities include: town hall meetings, other community forums and Project PACT360 (Police and Communities Together). PACT360 consists of presentations to parent or student organizations, civic groups and others on current and emerging drug trends in the Ankeny area. Organizations wanting to request a PACT360 presentation, or interested in other community drug education opportunities, are invited to submit a request to ASAP.
Knowledge is power, the power to prevent substance abuse. One way to increase knowledge is through public information initiatives. ASAP utilizes various forms of media for this purpose. ASAP authors newspaper articles, sponsors public service advertisements and publishes educational materials to publicize drug facts and other news. ASAP’s website and phone support are also excellent sources of information. ASAP public information efforts raise awareness, shape attitudes, and empower Ankeny area parents and other key family influencers to take action and prevent youth substance abuse.
